Toward Leading a Team: A New Script

Abstract

In the classroom and in life, it is rare to find teams that perform to their potential. While scholarly papers addressing the issue of team building and leadership focus on knowledge and are theoretical in nature, this paper provides a script that professors can use over the course of a semester to instruct students on how to create productive teams. The script, however, is not a
"cookbook” for team building; rather, it provides a process, ideas, and references for bonding people together in a common cause. Inherent in this script are values consistent with Christianity, collaboration, and servant leadership. Although this script is reflective of what happens in the classroom, it can be adapted for other venues such as teams and committees in the corporation and in the church.
